Perhaps social accountability has gone by the wayside? I don't know. It could also be that kids feel so damned vulnerable and shaky about thier worth that they have to lash out and make little power plays to feel better than someone else. As far as that guy is concerned...you know what? I hope his cock falls off. It probably will. Someone like that only thinks of thier own comfort, not the safety of thier bad partners (eye roll). I personally believe that when you truely love someone, you will love them only and be faithful, or else you don't love them exactly like you thought you did.
